What sets us apart
We had the honour of becoming a Great Place To Work in 2023 and featured on the The Sunday Times Best Places to Work list in 2024. Explore the four areas that set our workplace apart.
We value and nurture our culture of empowerment, trust and respect. Creating a positive and supportive culture is very important to us. We put our people at the centre of everything we do, with respect, trust and empowerment as our guiding lights. Here are some of the ways we do this:
We celebrate all life’s achievements
We don’t just honour our team’s work wins. We respect our people as individuals, so we acknowledge and celebrate exceptional life achievements and milestones, from civil partnerships and weddings, to births, adoptions and surrogacies.
We listen, we act
We regularly ask our people for feedback and value their views. We talk, listen, survey, then crucially – we act. Always seeking ways to improve their employee experience and ensuring we are inclusive in everything we do.
We see the potential in everyone. Our growth-mindset approach means continually create opportunities for personal development and training. We value every individual and encourage them to achieve their personal and professional goals. Here are some of the ways we do this:
We support different learning styles
Not everyone likes traditional training. Our eloomi platform offers learning in short, bite-sized modules in work-related subjects, as well as personal development.
We offer diverse career paths
While many join Argyll in customer service roles, our career paths here are wide and varied, from HR and finance, to management and marketing.
We invest in our future leaders
For those with a desire and ambition to progress towards a leadership role, we have created apprenticeships to help them make that important career leap.
We seek like-minded individuals
When we meet candidates, we look for those who share similar values. Individuals who share our zest for learning and development, are open to giving and receiving feedback and the resilience to overcome obstacles.
We care about our team’s wellbeing and are committed to helping them feel good inside and outside of work. We offer an ever-evolving collection of benefits and perks that support their fitness, mental health, quality of life, and physical and financial wellbeing. These are just some of them:
We get the team together
We recognise the importance of community and communication so we regularly get together as a team to celebrate, connect and have fun – from picnics and PRIDE parties, to quiz nights and end-of-year parties.
We prioritise mental health
From day one, we offer counselling through EAP, and have a number of designated Mental Health First Aiders across the business.
We think beyond work
Our Social activities clubs offer diverse and welcoming after-work activities, to encourage daily connection. It gives us an opportunity to come together, unwind and enjoy everything from tennis and chess to cooking and book club. We also offer everyone one day of volunteering a year so they can give back to the community.
We are committed to creating a workplace that celebrates the unique perspectives, experiences, and talents of every team member. We believe in the power of diversity and inclusion to not only create a positive place to work, but to fuel innovation and creativity. Here are some of the ways we do this:
We continually learn
We don’t see diversity as a destination but as a continual journey. Learning is essential for creating a truly inclusive workplace, so all our team members receive mandatory diversity and inclusion training on a monthly basis.
We seek feedback
Our neurodiversity, LGBTQ+ and ethnicity employee affinity groups provide regular feedback to help us create an inclusive, equitable and safe workplace.
We strive to reflect our diverse community
We actively seek to attract, retain and promote individuals from all walks of life. While we still have work to do, we are proud of the recent team feedback from our 2023 Great Place To Work survey:
- 94% said they are treated fairly regardless of their sexual orientation
- 92% said they are treated fairly regardless of their sex
- 91% said they are treated fairly regardless of their race
