We recognise that exceptional service is delivered by employees who value and take pride in their workplace. Our team are an integral part of the experience clients enjoy in our offices.
Our COO Emily Smith recently took the opportunity to reflect on what we have done to create a positive workplace culture, and build an engaged and empowered team.
Writing for HR Director, Emily set out the rationale: the data shows that the UK economy loses an estimated £340 billion a year due to disengaged employees, and organisations with recognition programmes see a 31% lower staff turnover than those without.
It is a challenge we recognise. Over the course of two years from 2021 to 2023 we transformed our staff turnover from 30% to just 3.5%. We achieved this by putting in place a comprehensive set of new workplace policies including personalised employee recognition, flexible working, and enhanced maternity and surrogacy leave. We’ve improved inclusivity with measures to prevent bias in recruiting and made sure we listen carefully to our employee’s voices. There is always more work to be done, but we’re proud of the culture we have created here at Argyll which is borne out in our loyal employees.
