Disability Confident 2

We’re thrilled to announce that Argyll has been officially recognised as a Level 1 Disability Confident Committed Employer.

This accreditation reflects our dedication to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered.

Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve already accomplished:

  • Supporting our team: We’re proud to have several team members with physical and mental disabilities or long-term health conditions as part of the Argyll team. To support them, we’ve created positive and productive work experiences through risk assessments, reasonable adjustments, and ongoing support.
  • Progressive recruitment:  We’re committed to attracting a diverse pool of talent. We actively seek out qualified candidates from all backgrounds by advertising our vacancies across a wide range of job boards and platforms. This broader approach helps us reach a more diverse audience and ensures that our opportunities are visible to individuals with a variety of skills, experiences and backgrounds, including those with disabilities. We use incognito mode in our hiring process to eliminate bias, offer reasonable adjustments for interviews, and guarantee interviews to qualified candidates with disabilities.
  • Neurodiversity support: We recognise the unique strengths and skillsets that our neurodivergent team members bring. We’ve adapted our policies and training materials to offer different formats and styles, making information accessible to everyone. We have provided information on neurodiversity settings in Teams and Microsoft accessibility functions. We also have neurodiversity training available for managers who need to support.
  • Looking ahead: We’re excited about two major initiatives that will further strengthen our commitment to disability inclusion.

First, we’re in the process of forming affinity groups. One of them will be focused on disability and neurodiversity, which will provide a platform for team members to share their experiences, insights, and ideas. This will help us better understand the needs of our team members and create even more targeted support.

Second, we’re planning to launch a summer internship program next year specifically designed for candidates with disabilities. This program will offer valuable work experience and development opportunities, helping to level the playing field and enhance the employability prospects of participants.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is a key pillar of our people strategy, both in the short and long term. We believe that a diverse workforce enriches our company culture and drives innovation.

We’re incredibly proud of our progress and excited for the journey ahead. We’re committed to continuous improvement and are already working towards achieving the next level of the Disability Confident accreditation. We hope that all our colleagues will get involved in this initiative and help us drive it forward, as your insights and perspectives are invaluable.

Together, we can make Argyll an even more welcoming and inclusive place to work for everyone.
