London’s premium office provider adds 13,500 sq ft to its existing occupation of the iconic building, owned by Michelin House Developments Limited

London’s premium office provider, Argyll, has today announced the growth of its prime office portfolio as it takes on the third floor of Michelin House, in partnership with Michelin House Developments Limited. The expansion will add 13,500 sq ft of additional office space and facilities to Argyll’s existing occupation of the building.

Originally home to its namesake – the Michelin Tyre Company – Michelin House is an iconic, Grade II-listed, early art-deco landmark in the heart of Chelsea. An additional 35 private offices in one of Argyll’s most popular buildings will allow more customers to benefit from the building’s distinctive architecture, which includes stained glass windows featuring the Michelin Man (originally designed by Michelin employee François Espinasse), and a rooftop terrace with views across the city. Businesses on the third floor, in addition to their own offices, two lounges, a kitchen, WCs and shower facilities, will have full access to facilities across the first and second floors, including meeting rooms, a lounge, and the terrace. The expansion means that 75% of office space in the building will be taken up by Argyll.

Argyll’s portfolio, 42% of which is owned, also includes 1 Cornhill, opposite the Bank of England; Central Court in Holborn; and townhouses across Mayfair. The expansion follows buoyant contracted office occupancy levels for the provider and physical office attendance up by 30% according to recent data collated from 6,453 office users across its 27-strong portfolio.

On the expansion, John Drover, Argyll’s CEO, said: We are always on the lookout for opportunities to bolster our portfolio of prime, iconic buildings with prestigious postcodes and distinctive architectural histories. We are thrilled to be partnering with Michelin House Developments Limited to occupy the third floor of this Grade-II site, with a fascinating history as Michelin’s first UK headquarters. I am looking forward to expanding our partnership and welcoming more customers through the doors to experience the unique character of this workspace.

The expansion is the result of a partnership transaction via a management agreement with the building’s owner, Michelin House Developments Limited.

The 3rd floor is expected to open to Argyll customers in Q3 2024.
